Simple Island Elegance
Redesigned with comfort in mind, both villas are structurally the same with an open-plan living and dining environment at ground level. This area is bathed in natural sunlight and cooled by the afternoon breeze. Sheer white curtains hang from the rafters adding a touch of island elegance.

A fully equipped kitchen facility fits neatly into a side corner with a visible counter top that doubles as a breakfast bar. It comes with all necessary cooking utensils and table ware as well as a decent sized fridge to store poolside drinks and snacks.

Stylish Bedroom Suites
A stylish double bedroom is located on the ground floor just off the living room. It has a delightful decor of white-washed timber furnishings and striking pieces of artistry. The en-suite bathroom promises spa-styled bathing indulgence with a separate shower and luxurious tub.

The second bedroom is upstairs and has all the trappings of an adult sanctuary with its romantic canopied bed and free-standing dressing mirror. There is also a large daybed that can sleep a child or extra person. The en-suite bathroom is a functional facility with just a shower recess.

Charming Outdoor Environment
Leisure time at Kubu Pesisi @ Oberoi involves quality time spent outdoors soaking up the sun. Both villas have a decent sized swimming pool as well as a shady gazebo to escape the heat of the day.

Each villa has a well-established garden and manicured patch of lawn. Large mango trees bear fruit on a seasonal basis and there are many other species of indigenous palms and blossoming flora to soothe the senses.

Villa Cocogroove, completed in 2004 and with a total built-up area of 550 square meters, was conceived as a series of bales (the Balinese version of a gazebo) linked by a covered walkway and orientated to take advantage of the prevailing winds, using large cantilevered overhangs and plated pergolas for shade and protection from rain. By adapting the arrangement of a traditional Bali home, the architect was able to satisfy the client’s wish to keep the guest quarters separate, and these were located in a line extending from the corner housing the kitchen, service quarters and garage. The living shelter followed by the master room extends from this corner at a right angle, while the house temple was placed facing the sacred mountain Gunung Agung in the opposite corner of the compound.

One entire wall of the compound is lined by plantings of small trees. The water connects the living area at firth with the bathrooms that adjoin the master and second bedrooms. The focus of the house is the living shelter, roofed but opens on three sides. In the centre of this is the sunken seating area, into which steps lead down from two opposite corner. Early morning sunlight streams into the living shelter (overleaf), with its dining table at left. The area faces out on to the lawn, swimming pool and a small bale in traditional style, thatched with alang-alang grass.

The villa has a 70m2 open living room with views overlooking the swimming pool and well-maintained garden area. This open space is cozy, giving a warm soothing atmosphere especially at night. The villa is equipped with a large 42″ LCD Satellite TV, audio system and Blueline internet connection using vouchers. Two en-suite air-conditioned bedrooms are cool, roomy and nicely decorated, with two separate bathrooms. There is an open guest toilet and maid/storage room on the ground floor. The large swimming pool measures 9 x 3,5m and is suitable for a few laps, while the sun lovers can rest alongside the pool to get a deep brown Bali sun tan.

The staff includes a cleaning maid who takes care of the house and ensuring guests are happy. The maid can be requested to prepare a simple breakfast course as well as an Indonesian fried-rice for lunch or dinner. A request for professional cook is on-call at an additional charge. The Villa
The majestic four-bedroom Villa Batavia, complete with its freeform swimming pool and children’s pool, is set upon 1,100 square metres of land, within the luxurious Laksmana Villas private estate, just footsteps away from the Indian Ocean at Seminyak Beach on Bali’s southwest coast. Designed by the acclaimed Balinese architect, Putu Edi Semara, and influenced by various legendary colonial-style hotels, the property captures the architectural heritage of Asia’s crossroads, following a colonial theme with high ceilings and art deco furniture. This is complemented by a crisp white exterior, a breezy colonnaded walkway with arched glassless windows, fish ponds, terracotta tiled roofs, louvre shutters, and colonial-style verandahs. Oozing with visual texture and lush fabrics, the sensual interiors reflect the travels and passions of the owners, who invite guests to share and celebrate the rich heritage of Asia. Guests can enjoy an eclectic collection of objets trouves and artwork including old postcards, maps, silver pots, colonial prints, Tiffany lamps, stained glass, rich textiles and rattan furnishings.

At Villa Batavia, everything possible has been considered for the comfort and entertainment of the guests. Not only is the property a handcrafted masterpiece of design, elegance and luxury, but it also seamlessly and sensitively combines hi-tech amenities with its historical theme.

The villa is comprised of three buildings linked by a covered pergola and a cloister-style walkway hung with custom made colonial-style glass lanterns. The first building is the guest wing complete with the living and dining room. The second building houses the reception hall and cocktail lounge, and the third building is the master wing. The staff service area, together with laundry and back-up generator set, is unobtrusively tucked out of the way at the back of the property.

Guests will enter the villa through a magnificent reception hall, located on the ground floor of the central building. Furnished with rattan planter chairs and sofas and complemented by parlour palms, this regal room opens straight onto the swimming pool. The splendid floor is composed of black and white granite tiles laid to form a traditional diagonal chequerboard pattern. A favourite area with guests is the upstairs cocktail bar complete with a mirrored antique buffet. The owners have paid a lot of attention to the wine list and are proud to present an impressive selection of fine wines from around the world. The dining experience is enhanced with the finest white bone china crockery and silver plated cutlery.

This next building features a 60-square metre, living and dining room positioned on the upper floor in close proximity to the modern and fully equipped, state-of-the-art kitchen. The living area offers plenty of places to relax and is enhanced by original chandeliers from Solo City in Java. Guests will relish the stunning views of clear open skies over the neighbouring Balinese rooftops, temples, palm trees and, on a clear day, the Island’s distant volcanoes. This delightful room is cross ventilated by the sea breezes that blow through the shuttered windows, which are further characterised by bevelled glass.

Alternatively guests can close the windows for air-conditioned comfort. The ground floor is also home to two bedrooms. One of the en-suite bathrooms is characterised by an open-air shower, and the other by an eye-catching stained glass window. Every suite in the villa is different, and all of the en-suite bathrooms are air-conditioned with timber floors, together with non-slip acid marble floors in the showers. Guests are in for a treat with the provision of four poster beds crafted from aged teak and reproduction pedestal washbasins. Furthermore, the master bathrooms boast opulent copper bathtubs.

The third standalone building houses a master suite on the upper floor, with a timber floor, sumptuous en-suite bathroom, a large verandah and a small adjoining study room with a computer. Downstairs is another capacious master suite incorporating a pillared verandah and a garden bathroom fitted with a bathtub and outdoor shower. Also on the ground floor is an ornately tiled Moroccan style steam bath with a domed roof. Traditionally, Moroccan baths are places to meet and enjoy conversation, so the temperature is therefore not too hot. The aromatic steam opens the pores, cleanses the skin and helps to relax aching muscles. Next to the steam bath is an air-conditioned massage room.

Each of the four suites is equipped with a mini-bar fridge, a safe deposit box, an independently controlled cable TV and DVD player, and a Bose iPod dock. WiFi high speed Internet is accessible throughout the villa. There is also a remote Bose music system featuring a huge, comprehensive music library. No expense was spared in the creation of this remarkable residence, the owners’ priority was to be gracious to the environment and the property has therefore been designed to be as efficient and as environmentally-friendly as possible. No chemicals are used in the pool; instead it employs a salt water system that is soft on the earth and gentle on the skin, while the gin-clear fishponds employ bio-technology.

Swimming Pool
Villa Batavia is set within a beautiful walled garden complete with an 18-metre freeform swimming pool that is reminiscent of a river pool. There is also a separate children’s pool complete with a bridge across to an island. This lovely area is planted with fruit trees, fragrant frangipanis and ferns, complemented by two waterfalls and a large rock wall with a water cascade. Every need has been considered and a guest washroom is available for pool users, accessible from the garden. A secure parking area provides space for motorbikes and two cars.

A magnificent thatched roof pavilion, filled with high-end pieces of artistry, is the villa’s main living space. Designed to incorporate a social dining area and gourmet kitchen, it is semi-open to capture natural daylight and optimise air circulation.

There is a double sized bedroom on either side of the living pavilion. Each comes with its own mood enhancing decor that showcases unique artefacts and local treasures. Both rooms have a lavish en-suite bathroom including a separate bathtub and rain shower for personal indulgence.

Two additional bedrooms are located side-by-side in a separate pavilion overlooking the entire length of the swimming pool. Each room is a restful retreat with a canopied bed, earthy decor and functional en-suite bathroom facility.

Massilia 2
This three bedroom villa captures the mood of a bygone era with a colonial inspired design that incorporates a wide veranda and louvered bedroom windows for privacy. It is set within a charming garden featuring a swimming pool and a Balinese lounging pavilion at the far end.

Visually this villa is an eclectic retreat filled with extraordinary treasures. It blends dramatic artworks from the remote jungles of Africa with more refined pieces depicting the age-old dynasties of imperial China.

The main structure is an open-plan environment with a distinct residential feel that brings a living and dining area together under one roof. There is a gourmet kitchen facility tucked into the back section that comes under the watchful gaze of an oversized reclining Buddha statue.

Two well-appointed bedrooms are located on either side of the living room. Each has its own seating area on the front veranda. A third bedroom, featuring a similar decor, stands alone and overlooks the pool. All three bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom with a shower facility.

Massilia 3
