Umah Lu’ung have 4 one-bedroom self-contained villas and a big villa for a dining room, a library, a kitchen and a large open sp ace with daybeds where you can enjoy a stunning view of a valley and rice-fields. In a clear day you can see Mt Agung as well. The villas share a swimming pool. There is interesting places around Umah Luung, such as nice restaurants, gallery etc.

In Umah lu’ung you can do yoga, meditation, painting, writing your own book, enjoy the music and many more. Want to do outdoor activities? You can go trekking, biking or rafting.

Massage
We usually ask one of the maids to arrange it and sometimes we use a therapist/masseuse who works in Mandara Spa, who can serve us outside her working hours. Traditional Balinese massage by a village ‘tukang pijat’ can also be arranged.

Music
We have a small collection of CDs, usually we keep them in the library, you are welcome to take them to your villa and use the CD player there. You can get local and international channels.

They are available in the library, mostly given by friends who stayed in Umah Lu’ung.

The Villa
Villa Bangla Bali is both a traditional and contemporary villa. Its many glassed surfaces provide a direct connection with nature and its large living room with open area creates an outdoor living feeling! This property seats on a 1000m2 piece of land surrounded by lush gardens. Access to the villa is through a private and secured entrance, coming out onto a parking space for 3 cars, with 24/7 security personnel. You will come into the estate through a pretty carved Balinese style door. There you will find the first pavilion, commonly called “Small Joglo”. It consists of a very spacious master bedroom with a 200x200cm poster style bed and a beautiful teakwood floor; a big en-suite bathroom fitted with a terrazzo bathtub and a shower; a separated office with telephone line; and a big dressing room with a mirror and plenty of shelves. You will be charmed by a beautiful 10mts long swimming pool located between the two pavilions. At both ends of the swimming pool, surrounded by lush gardens, resting areas with day-beds and long chairs will allow you to fully enjoy the sun. On the other side of the swimming pool you will see the main pavilion called “Big Joglo”. Villa Dining
Situated on the ground floor of the main villa, the large open plan dining area is adjacent to the 20 meter infinity swimming pool, heated Jacuzzi, spacious barbeque area, iron wood sun decks and a thatched roof bale overlooking the rice paddies further down the valley. Above the dining area you look up through an oculus to the expansive soaring roof of the villa. The dining area is complemented by a modern granite top kitchen that can serve as a breakfast or drink bar and is equipped with state of the art kitchen accessories. While you can choose to dine in the privacy of your own villa and have a romantic candlelit dinner for two, the main dining area is a focal point for long evenings of informal social interactions with other guests and the owners. There are also two rooftop cafes, Warung Spa and Warung Paddy where guests can enjoy bar and snack services which are also available in the pool area.

Staying in Ubud is a unique experience. Ubud offers a stay punctuated with the simple pleasures of watching her children practice their dancing or gamelan playing at the temple; craftsman patiently honing their talents; farmers chasing their herd of ducks down the streets. Accommodation
The layout of Amala allows two families with children to holiday very comfortably and with enough living areas to afford adequate privacy. Alternatively it is also a suitable get-away for 4-5 couples to “chill out” in the peaceful and harmonizing atmosphere of Sebali.

The main house contains an open dining area and large daybed overlooking the 20m pool and padi fields. It also houses the library, kitchen, and a powder room and on the second levels the master bedroom. The Master bedroom has a spacious veranda with two daybeds at each end. It is one of two rooms in the estate that has an exposed alang alang roof. The bathroom contains a bathtub cum shower and also an outdoor shower on the terrace.

The valley house has an open living area on the top floor with wide open verandas for dining al fresco. It also boasts an immense alang alang roof. Below this are two guest rooms sharing a veranda that overlook the valley. Both rooms are en-suite with partial outdoor showers and baths.

On the ground level of the valley house there is a second master bedroom with an indoor bath and shower overlooking the valley as well as an outdoor shower in its own private garden.

Next to this is the TV room with a projector and screen to watch movies or catch the latest news on satellite TV. Alternatively this room is easily converted into another guest room with en-suite bathroom. A veranda fronts these two rooms and allows guests to walk out to the valley garden or have breakfast with the morning sun rising over the valley. A bale sits at the edge of the garden overlooking the valley and rice terraces.

Dining
Our cook will be able to prepare both local and western cuisine. Villa guests are free to discuss with the cook the menu for each meal that will then do the marketing and guests need only pay the cost of the food bought.

Within a 15 min car ride of Amala, you will have the choice of a varied selection of restaurants, Terrazzo, Batan Waru, Bebek Bengil, Ary’s Warung, and Mosaic to name but a few.

The Pantulan pavilion includes in living room, dining room, gourmet kitchen, library, entertainment room, and bathroom. All space are connected by a soaring alang-alang roof and walk away to each separate pavilion offering panoramic views to the rest of the house and the rice field.

The Lotus
The lotus pavilion is two-story structure comprising sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. On the ground floor, a stunning wall carving depicting village life adorns the back wall. A small sofa, two chairs, a coffee table and sofa table are covered in brown Balinese cotton. On the table and long benches are fine example of Balinese glass and traditional wooden boat. The lotus upstairs a large bedroom overlooks the rice field and swimming pool. A beautiful white stone Buddha heed decorates the back of the bed and delicate colored organza is lit from behind to cast a beautiful light on the bed night. This is truly romantic bedroom and as the sun set; there is a magnificent view from this bedroom. The bathroom includes a waterfall and Koi Fish pond nest to the outdoor shower. Two porcelain bowls sit on top of terrazzo counter and are well-lit by Italian light fixtures.

The Temple Garden
The Temple Garden pavilion has two bedrooms, both decorates in beautiful hand-made cotton embroidered bed linens and pillows. In each room, a queen size bed is surrounded by white mosquito net emphasizing the dramatic bed linens, cushions, and curtains made from Balinese cotton. The lower bedroom extend out to the temple garden, Koi Fish pond and orchid garden the upper bedroom offer splendid views of the rice field and overall view of the house and orchid garden below. The bathroom on the ground floor is a striking bamboo and with pebble garden designed around the out door shower. Two porcelain bowls set on terrazzo counter and Italian lighting fixtures make this stunning bathroom.

The Rice Field
Behind the Lotus Pavilion, tucked away discretely behind the wall, is the Rice field pavilion. A two bedrooms structure decorated in shades of Irish green, Balinese red and black add dramatic flair to an already dramatic setting. Two bedrooms open out onto a different view from small wooden duct on side the temple garden and on the other the rice field. Each bedroom has a queen sized bed canopied in white mosquito net and a beautiful Balinese ikat design. All beds are carefully lit from inside by beautiful Italian lamps. A small table and chair for writing postcard or letter and mirror complete this room. On the wall, are drawings and paintings by local artists?

Villa Pantulan is an eco- friendly property. Our water is pumped from an underground well, which guarantee purity. All waste water is biodegradable with an underground filtration system and all outdoor water features are recycled. The Pool is salt-water treated and chlorination is kept to a minimum. We use only biodegradable soaps and compost all our organic water. Each week all glass, plastic, metal and paper is recycled through a local recycling.

Architecturally is designed by Marita Vidal and Tony Gwillian. Villa Pantulan is situated on 2.400 sq meters of land including 550 square meters of living space.

However, this is NOT your dream villa if you expect to be served caviar and champagne on short notice and because of its location on the steep ridge small children should be supervised.

Location
“Villa Dhyan” is set on the steep ridge of the Ayung River in Sayan near the famous Four Seasons and Amandari resorts and offers stunning views of the Ayung River and the valley. It’s a short walk (about 70 meters) from the private covered parking area and the busy main road. In less than 10 minutes drive you reach the artists village of Ubud with its many art galleries, shops and excellent restaurants (e.g. Mozaic and Lamak), daily traditional dance performances, frequent cultural events and temple festivals. It’s about 40 minutes to Sanur or Denpasar, and about one hour to Bali’s international airport, Kuta and Legian. White water rafting on the Ayung River starts close-by, and the nearest beaches are about 30 minutes away.

The Villa
Built by the famous German painter Peter Dittmar about 20 years ago and renovated in 2004, this unique artist’s retreat is an excellent example of how traditional houses were built at that time with thatched roofs, open living areas and bedrooms with walls from woven rattan. Your reach the gate walking a narrow path from the main road, and inside the tropical garden you face several separate buildings. The main house accommodates on the ground floor a two-level living area with large sofas, several traditional sofa chairs and tables to enjoy the breath-taking view of the river below and the surroundings. On the ground floor is also a bathroom, and two staircases lead to the up-stairs master bedroom.

A square dining pavilion with a table for up to 6 guests is located next to the main house and close to the separate kitchen building and a studio (locked when Dittmar is in Sydney, in Munich or traveling) and a guest bedroom above. An additional guest cottage is set in the garden behind the main building next to the swimming pool.

The Bedrooms
The air-conditioned master bedroom above the living room in the main house can be accessed via a staircase from the ground-floor bathroom or via an outside staircase. It offers spectacular views of the Ayung River and the valley below. On the desk is a telephone & fax machine, and here you can connect your computer to the Internet. The air-conditioned bedroom Number 2 is located in a small traditional guest cottage with thatched roof behind the main house. It features a private open bathroom and a small terrace which overlooks the swimming pool and valley.

Bedroom Number 3 has been added in 2005 and is air-conditioned as well as fan-cooled and located above the painter’s studio, offering from its balcony a great view of the Ayung River and the surroundings. This bedroom has also a private bathroom.

The open kitchen is located next to the dining pavilion and equipped with stove, oven, refrigerator, blender, glasses, crockery and cutlery, etc. The well-trained villa staff includes a cook to prepare delicious meals, a maid to clean the premises and handle your laundry, a gardener and security guard. All live near Villa Dhyan and are available whenever needed. All staff members wear uniform and name tags to make identification easy. Your air-conditioned car with a reliable driver is available up to 10 hours per day for excursions throughout the island or just to go shopping or for a meal in nearby Ubud.

The Villa

Griya Aditi is a three bedroom villa. The name Griya Aditi means “Abode of the Light”. The villa is designed as a modern interpretation of Balinese traditional living, each room on ground floor opening on a wide patio. The Master bedroom faces the rice fields and the infinity swimming pool. It has en-suite bathroom with bathtub and an outdoor shower. It also has a outdoor daybed and a private garden.

Two other bedrooms on ground floor face the swimming pool. Both have indoor bathroom with showers. The dining / living room opens on the garden, the swimming pool and rice fields. A family room faces the back garden. Children love to play in the family room, in times of rain.

All rooms have air conditioning and fan. The kitchen is used for final preparation of the dishes before serving. It has a refrigerator, a microwave oven, and a water dispenser. The swimming pool is tiled with natural stones coming from Java. The Bale Bengong is a place where you can relax or get a traditional massage. The garden faces more than 1 km uninterrupted rice fields, with a small temple on the right side.

The Villa has been designed, built and is managed with the single purpose of your enjoying a wonderful and trouble free stay. The villas’ staffs include cook, waiters and room attendants, pool attendant and maintenance man, gardener, and night watchmen. The villa manager will welcome you upon arrival. She will visit you during your stay to check whether everything goes fine. You also call on her in case of a difficulty. The villas are fitted with modern facilities, telephone connection to all rooms as well as to kitchens, the office and security post, wired and wireless broadband internet and cable TV.

Note about broadband internet: please remember that you are in Bali and nothing goes at light speed here, internet connection is not an exception. We have ample electrical capacity to power all the above and to keep the villas cool, and a 30 kVA generator for the occasional power cuts, which are part of the life, here.

Through an agreement with a local group of drivers, we provide 1 car per villa for the entire duration of the guests’ stay. Their cars are new generation Kijangs, comfortably seating up to 6 adults. The driver’s knowledge of Bali, including the most remote and “off the beaten track” roads is exceptional.
