Nestled in the heart of Bali’s most stylish neighborhood, Seminyak, are two century old antique Javanese ’Joglos’ in a luxury hideaway. Villa Des Indes I and II offer guests a captivating journey through time, combining nostalgic luxury with the exemplary services of personal butlers and top class chefs. Both villas are steeped in Indonesian art and antiques.
Directly across the road from a white sand beach, Villa Des Indes I and II are situated opposite one another in a private lane off Jalan Laksmana (Oberoi) and can be rented out separately or together. A small lane and private entrances separate the two colonial residences. Be transported back to a gentler era at Villa Des Indes.
Villa Des Indes I: (3 bedrooms)
Within Villa Des Indes I there are three separate early 20th century style bungalows with oversize antique Balinese beds, en-suite grand bathrooms and tropical outdoor showers. The Joglo is a peaceful centerpiece of Villa Des Indes I, an open-air living area that appears to be floating on water, surrounded by a 21-meter lagoon swimming pool that curves amidst the orchids and frangipanis. Complete with a table for fine dining, a relaxing lounge with plantation chairs, the Joglo typifies the best in tropical Asian luxury.
Two of the sleeping pavilions have wide verandahs and den-libraries full of interesting books, attached to the bedrooms. The third pavilion has an open upper level for sunset cocktails with adjacent butler’s pantry. Guests awake on Egyptian cotton sheets surrounded by one of Indonesia’s finest collection of antiques wash in an antique pedestal washbasin or soak in a scented flower bath under an outdoor Indonesian bale.

Villa Des Indes II: (2 bedrooms)

Villa Des Indes II is situated opposite the Villa Des Indes I in a private lane across from Seminyak beach. Large ancient Chinese doors open out into a cleverly carved Joglo which serves as a living and dining area. Comfortable sofas, plantation chairs and a circular dining table occupy the Joglo. Villa Des Indes II has been decorated with immaculate attention to detail. The walls are hung with original Indonesian works of art; Dutch East Indes travel posters and antique hand carved reliefs.
Villa Des Indes II has a two storey colonial style pavilion which houses two master suites on each floor. Each suite also includes a den library and grand bathrooms. Bedrooms house antique four poster king size Balinese beds and include flat screen TV with satellite and a I-Pod docking station. Bathrooms have pedestal washbasins, free standing bathtubs and spacious rainwater showers.
There are also an additional two bedrooms above the kitchen area. These house queen sized beds, side tables and wardrobes and are suitable for guests with older teenage children or guests travelling with staff. (An additional charge applies for use of these rooms). A shower/toilet serves the additional bedrooms.
Fringing the Joglo is a lagoon style swimming pool so that guests can slip directly into the pool to cool off. The pool opens up to a beautiful tropical garden which includes a large spacious lawn (900sqm) perfect for sunbathing, family fun and a great place to host weddings and other events. You will awake on Egyptian cotton sheets surrounded by one of Indonesia’s finest collection of antiques, enjoy an iced drink served by your own personal butler and be transported back to a gentler era.
